All of a sudden, mobile giant Nokia was on the backseat as iPhone and Google battles over the driver’s seat. Apple used to be a computer manufacturer turned media player innovator. Now, they have the most sought-after phone in the world, the iPhone. On the other hand, Google is a search engine giant. But that didn’t stop them from creating a platform for mobile phones that will rival the iPhone for applications. None of them started in the mobile phone market but they’re taking leadership of it.
Nokia is now struggling to acquire its share on its own domain. The company is working hard to regain market leadership and is doing it one step at a time. Today, it is currently investing on the development of massive applications for Nokia mobile phones in answer to the iPhone’s unfading popularity. And to put Google in its place, it is trying to promote the Ovi Maps application for Nokia phone, with the hope that phone users will totally forget about the very popular Google Maps.
Like Google Maps, Ovi Maps nokia app give you a good picture of your place in the sun and all the good things around you. Through it, you can locate where you are and lead yourself to the destination quite easily. Ovi Maps also integrate all the hotspots in the area, including the best places to wine, dine, and party.
What’s so good about the Nokia App Ovi Maps is the fact that it can be modified by the user to add his own points of interests. It also functions like a real map wherein you could search for street addresses and then save them on your Nokia mobile phone.
By the looks of it, Ovi Maps nokia App will really give Google Maps a run for its money. While this is just one step to finally topple Google in the mobile market, it sure is a bold one for Nokia to undertake.
