One of the first new announcements at NW09 has turned out to be the 32GB Nokia X6 which packs a 5 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash, TV-out, and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. The phone is a Comes with Music handset, so you can have no worries at having outdated music on your phone.
The phone seems to be a slightly slimmed down Nokia 5800, but in a slightly better looking form factor, whilst also sporting the same OS, A-GPS (with Ovi Maps), and more than likely an annoyingly resistive touchscreen. The phone will ship with a free copy of Spore along with the Ovi Store, and it’s planned release is to ship the handset in Q4 2009 for £530 (with Comes with Music).
Yet again, seemingly far to expensive when you consider the iPhone 3GS is only £40 more expensive along with other devices such as the HTC Hero. It is expected to be available free over here in the UK on most contracts £30 a month and above.
Update: Contrary to earlier reports we now know the X6 will be Nokia’s first Capacitive touch screen phone. Hooray…finally!

I read somewhere that the X6 has capacitive touchscreen
Lately I have seen you are just cribbing about every nokia phone released and trying to compare it iPhone 3gs. I think better change your blog name and brand then…
I think its time to unsubscribe from your blog.
pathetic
Appreciate your comments John but bare in mind this post is from Dan. I understand your view but we always look at both scenarios when looking at releases.
The Nokia X6′s price should be looked at and it’s Dan’s opinion that he would rather purchase an iPhone 3GS. We’re here to write the content and share our opinions. It’s sad to read that you will be unsubscribing.
I’d also like to know which posts you think are geared towards the iPhone 3GS?
I think you need to differentiate between the £400 recommended retail price for an unlocked / unsubsidised Nokia X6, which most people would never pay, and £440 for a PAYG handset that is still locked to the O2 network, and therefore still subsidised to an extent.
Using your logic every piece of technology is overpriced, as comparing the RRP, to the sale / discounted price of competing products completely ignores the fact the new product would also be discounted once released.
I guarantee that handset will be available for £250 within a couple of months of release, and free on a £25+ monthly contract.
Also keep in mind that this phone has CWM as standard, which is included in the £400 price tag.
Actually, now I see that Dan was aware of this fact:
“The phone is a Comes with Music handset, so you can have no worries at having outdated music on your phone.”
Outdated? I’ve been using the service for 2 months now and 99% of the songs I searched for were available, probably all of which were playing on MTV charts etc.
outdated as in if you didn’t have the “comes with music service”.
i’m fully aware that nokia music has always got the latest music available on it.
just rubbish that its still all DRM protected untill they stop this in the next couple months
in reply to the comments above i’m sure the X6 won’t have its price lowered after the first few months.
for example, the N97 which is almost a complete flop is still selling at £500, the same price it was available for in June.
p.s where are all these iphone geared articles then?
