There has been much speculation about this device as many believe, even without 3G, it can become a more successful device than the Nokia 5800. Why? Well the Nokia 5800 has been the guinea pig for Nokia to run touchscreen enhancements on and the creation of the Nokia 5530 has allowed Nokia to run software on it’s brother so that the final release of the 5530 seems all that more stable.

There’s no denying that this phone is not as big (2.9 inch touchscreen) but everything fit on that screen is quick, smooth and the phone design looks much tidier too! The Nokia 5530 is set to be released exclusive to the Carphone Warehouse and we’re expecting some cheap contracts for this pocket music phone. One thing’s for sure, the 5530 XpressMusic owners are getting the better end of the bargain at the minute with kinetic scrolling and an application shortcut screen. Come on Nokia, give the goodies to the 5800 owners!

They both have the same processor, ARM 11, but the 5800 was put at 369Mhz.
With firmware v20, it’s been upped to 434Mhz.

Every advantage the 5530 has (kinetic scrolling, homepage) can be given to the 5800 with a firmware update, but with a smaller screen, no 3G, no GPS, coming with 4Gb instead of 8GB, headphone jack at the bottom, worse battery, lower sound quality, single LED instead of Dual, no secondary camera for video calls…

I just can’t say the same thing about the 5530.

It can’t be better AND cheaper than the 5800. Nokia isn’t that stupid.

Also, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying the 5530 is a crappy phone. It’ll be quite the seller in it’s price range. However people should only buy it if they can’t afford the 5800.

I was simple stating some people’s opinions that I have seen around the net, it makes good press. ;)

I agree with your points and can see why people would choose the 5800, after all, I’ve owned one myself. Thanks for your detailed comments!

Of course there’s the design and size, which may be considered better or worse, but that’s a matter of taste.

The only thing I can safely say it’s better on the 5530 than on the 5800 is the price.

But that’s to be expected, given each phone’s specs.
