It’s what Nokia 5800 users have been waiting for. The new firmware version 30.0.011 is now available to install on your device. The update should be available to many regions (please let us know if it is not) and brings a new email widget to the homescreen which is common on S60 3rd edition devices. There has also been speed improvements and bugs fixes which comes with many firmware updates.
The Nokia 5800 is available to update over the air (*#0000#) and through your computer. The Nokia 5800 has data preservation so you will be able to keep your phone as it currently is after the update. We are still to see an official changelog but we will get this up as soon as possible. The update does not bring a lot of features that many were expecting like kinetic scrolling and such but they are welcome every time they happen. So… how long to the next one?

i just updated my 5800…and it’s still slow. no kinetic scrolling.
still the same screen. they changed dialer buttons…and that’s that.
maybe we have to wait v31 to bring some big stuff :S?
We seem to say that every time. We were always awaiting things like kinetic scrolling but they never come… it seems we’re dissapointed once again.
I wonder what they are thinking at nokia… why is the email homescreen notification only available after a hardreset… how hard can it be?
well I use profimail after all… but I had to hardreset my phone last week because of that mass storage bug which lets your shortcuts vanish… took me like 3 hours to reinstall all my apps and set up everything… backing up the phone settings doesn’t work because the shortcuts will vanish again… just like the email notification plugin….
that’s super annoying… also where is the official changelog?

I’m not hearing of anyone having to do a hard reset to install the new firmware. Maybe that was an error? I’m sure a lot of people were expecting some other features.
nah the firmware update works, but you can’t enable the email notification on the homescreen until you perform a hard reset. it just doesn’t show up in the options.
ah yeah I found out about one interesting thing… you could choose small text in v21 which made the menu icons appear smaller and you had 4 instead of 3 in a row… missing text was the trade-off…. well guess how they fixed that… no more small icons… that’s retarded…
Not available to me (Red phone, Orange, UK). Still on V11.0.009.
the email notification works without a hard reset for me. however my contacts bar is now mangled and i believe only a hard reset will fix that.
had to hard reset previously and it took me a while to get the ovi.store people to send me a link to download my purchased app.
should i go through the hassle again just to fix the contact bar. hmm
Hmm i live in Denmark, why cant i download the update yet? is there a release date for my country specific, or do i need to do something other than go to my phones update menu? plz help…
Well, first of all, the update to V30 is only for RM-428 by NSU. For RM-356 you can use FOTA before a code-region change to update in some countrys.
Yes, no kinetic-scrolling or N97 home-screen, but the SPEED IS AMAZING NOW!
Has major stability and the audio has a powerfull volume now. The sound is clearer too. Has a email notification at home-screen y many new things like the “blinking breath, touch-volume, bold fonts in times new roman, the gallery speed is overall fast, no more crashes, more free RAM (57 MB for me now, before i have 45 MB). Better quality pics at night. Faster conection to the PC. You can go out of the music player with the red button and when back is still in the same song. The phone is READY for the famous V31 now!
So, i recomend u all update and enjoy a totally new performance in your 5800. NOW THE 5800 FINALLY IS A TOTAL IPHONE KILLER!
PS: You have to hard-reset after update to get all the new things and upgrades.

I live in Malta and am still unable to update the Firmware.
I also have an issue with GPS not being able to determine my position. Viewing the GPS data, I do get signal from 3 satellites but yet, still the GPS data will not be resolved
here in maninla,Philippines the new fw update v30 for 5800 is still n0t available …sigh. Is thre any way to change my product code for me to update my phone to v30. Also hoping for more enchanced camera quality, music player and a kinetic scrolling. xD

Hi, im from philippines.firmware 30.0.011 is still not available in my nokia 5800.Hope this new release will appear on my phone within this week.
Im from philippines too, when i try to upgrade the firmware of my phone it says no upgrade available, I use the nokia software updater and still no available update I even type my phone’s product code to see if the update is available on our region, it states that the current firmware version release is V 21.0.025. When will they release this firmware on our region?
This updated is also not available in Finland, i have tried meny times through the phone and the computer. Hope i also get to enjoy this update soon.

I live in the Uk and have just downloaded the update. The only difference I have noticed is that I can no longer have small icons. So all in all a disappointing update.
