After 2 months or so being reluctant to purchase anything from Nokia’s Ovi Store I have finally been persuaded by a couple of people to put my hand in my wallet.
Today, after listening to Carl babbling on about Gravity so often I brought the Native s60 Twitter app and after reading a review of Autorama (Photorama) it seemed common sense to buy a Panoramic application for my 5800 just in case any good photo opportunities arise over this summer.
Gravity
Most of you have probably encountered at some point over the past 6 months or so and seeing as Twitter is a major part of NokiApp, including a great way of finding out the latest info around the s60 world, I decided the time had come to bring the service to my mobile and replace the “less featured” applications I had previously been using such as TweetS60 and Dabr.
I won’t give a review of the application because you can find them all over the web but I will say that my initial thoughts are that it is brilliant. The UI is so seemlessly simple and the kinetic scrolling gives a satisfying feeling as opposed to the rest of my 5800 which is yet to implement this feature (something I hope Nokia includes in a future FW update).
Autorama (Photorama)
I used to love using Panoman on my Nokia N82 untill Nokia decided to purchase the company themselves and make it unavailable to the public (anyone know whats happened to it?). The option of Panoramic photography has always been something i’ve felt should been included as default in Nokia’s high end phones such as the N82 and N95, but up untill the recent release of the N86 8MP the big N had decided otherwise against this option.
I was surfing various blogs today and came accross a review of the Autorama application. I read the review and decided it would be a good investment to stump up the £4 for the application and I must say I am impressed. The way it works is much like Panoman, with auto alignment where the software detects the edges of the last picture you took then snaps the next one where it automatically stiches them together. There are also various options to choose from including the change in size, quality and zoom with the only downside being the ability to only take 3 photos at a time. This is something I hope will be added to in future releases, maybe allowing up to 5 images at a time.
Check back later in the week when Carl will be doing a full video review of the Panoramic application.

The scrolling on Gravity is impressive, so smooth, I’m just amazed its not standard on all 5800 apps that use scrolling. What I really love about Gravity is the support it gets as we seem to get an update almost every week with another cool feature added to an already awesome twitter app
Agree to that one. I’m always looking for new updates and they are talking about putting Facebook in the updates. That will make Gravity explode in sales even further.
I also think that Autorama is a quite good app. I like the quality of the stitching -it almost never fails! Only one negative thing: you have to buy it blindly (means no Demo available).
