It may just be me but it seems that in the week I was away Nokia have seriously ramped up their marketing/advertising campaigns. As i’ve mentioned in previous posts i’ve always felt that Nokia were lagging behind the likes of Apple when it came to promoting their devices and products with only the occasional TV advert or billboard being placed to attract potential buyers.
Now everywhere I go and every time adverts come on i’m seeing advertisements for their latest devices such as the N97 and 5800. I am seeing these on bill boards, bus stops, adverts, big full page spreads in newspapers and a lot more in shop windows. Usually I never see any of this from Nokia or retailers.
The bill boards are actually rather attractive and well presented, adopting the same kind of style as the N-series videos produced on the official Nokia blogs where the phone and hands are still whilst the background is rushing past.
In my opinion this lays down a serious challenge to Apple and shows Nokia are now coming out of their shell and are willing to try and compete with Apple and their simple, yet effective ads.
